some updates, some movies

First, a quick update on the newsletter schedule to all subscribers old and new: You’ll be getting four newsletters a month, three for paid subscribers and a monthly Sunday Energy post for regular subscribers. My Sunday dispatches will now be published biweekly—some Sundays, I need to write, and others, I need to rest.

At the end of this month, I’ll be publishing the first essay in The Hoped-For Apocalypse series.

In the lead-up to that, I want to share the full list of over 100 movies and TV shows I watched last year that shaped my thinking for this project. Many of these titles may not seem explicitly “apocalyptic” or “dystopian,” but I feel they’re all very much in a conversation about the end of the world, at least the one I was having with myself in 2024 while watching them. I’ve compiled the films into the list below, including links to stream for free where available (*).
